Lancement d’un nouveau journal dédié à l’étude des feux

Journal of Pyrogeography was officially launched in June 2025. It is a journal dedicate to the study of fire and its relationships with climate, vegetation and human activity at local to global scales. The journal was promoted by Prof David Bowman (Emeritus Professor at Universtiy of Tasmania), who identified a gap in the field, with articles related to Pyrogeography being generally scattered across journals in specific disciplines such as ecology, Earth system science, biogeochemical cycles, governance, etc.
The journal is inherently multi-disciplinary and aims to attract studies that are highly novel and rigorous. The journal currently has an Editor-in-Chief, Dr Matthew Jones from University of East Anglia (UK), an Associate Editor (Dr Guilherme Mataveli, from Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais, Brazil) and 30 editors. Editors usually help with reviewing process and also assign reviewers, ensure the quality of the peer-review process and send decision recommendations to the associate rditor. The editorial board also promotes Special Issues. At the moment we are in the process of reviewing the first submission and the first issue should be coming out in early 2026.
